About Lazy Ass Wear
It all started where all good ideas start. In a bar with friends. Way back in 2003.
The more we drank, the funnier I thought the “ideas” were. I’m not sure if everyone thought so, but I certainly did. After several lengthy “business meetings” we laughed hysterically at the ideas. We even did a mock P&L statement and saw that we would go broke in 6 months. With no measurable plan we decided it was a TERRIBLE idea. Like all get rich schemes we knew it was doomed. So, WE DID IT anyways!
One person for example, (we will call him Dilly) to protect the innocent names – went as far as joining forces with me. We wanted to live the American Dream. To get rich, sip little umbrella drinks and do nothing for it. Armed with absolutely no clue what we needed to do or how we were going to do, I went to a local printer. I sat down and described this terrible idea to the printer. With no measurable skills on creating a line of shirts and hats I opted for the ever popular clipart, while using the logo that was already designed.
We HAD lucrative jobs and decided maybe we should test this 1st. Our initial run was 5 designs of shirts and 5 embroidered hats. Word began to spread and we started selling shirts and hats from our trunks after work. Holy shit! It was working!? We added a few more designs, had them printed and they sold too!! BRILLIANT!!! We were selling them left and right and needed more! But, now what? Cost of goods was rising and profits were diving lower with each creation. How could we ever lower costs and get to the point of selling them wholesale? Wait. I know. Let us quit our jobs and OPEN OUR OWN PRINT SHOP!!! Brilliant!
Well, that didn’t work. I mean, it worked great for quite some time. We became “printers”. We no longer printed Lasy Ass Wear. We couldn’t afford it. We needed to print everyone else’s crap, just to sometimes get paid. What happened to the easy money? What happened to the funny shit?! What happened to bringing the cost down!? Real nice idiot-boy!
After several years of paying off my debt and being an adult again. I decided to make another run at this, starting in 2017. I could afford the beer again, new designs and could afford an attorney this time! If you made it this far reading, go buy something for the love of being Lazy! Cheers!
